Mourinho turns sardonic on Dean and Riley

Jose Mourinho made a sardonic speech against referee Mike Dean and refereeing chief Mike Riley after Chelsea were beaten by Sunderland thanks to a late controversial penalty.

Mourinho turns sardonic on Dean and Riley

“I want to congratulate again Mike Dean,” he said. “I think his performance was unbelievable and I think when referees have unbelievable performances, I think it’s fair that, as managers, we give them praise. So, fantastic performance. He came here with one objective. To make a fantastic performance. And he did that. And fourth, congratulations also to Mike Riley, the referees’ boss. What they are doing through the whole season is fantastic, especially in the last couple of months, and in teams involved in the title race. Absolutely fantastic. I also congratulate Mr Riley.”

Mourinho refused to take questions during the two-minute monologue which was a shame as journalists were keen to get his thoughts on the fact that he was forced to drag his assistant Rui Faria by the hair to prevent him from physically confronting Dean after the penalty that looks to have cost his side the title.
