Shane’s wife blasts ‘vile’ West Brom fans
Long was transferred from West Brom to Hull in January much to the fans' disgust and against the wishes of new boss Pepe Mel in a move that could cost the Baggies their place in the Premier League.
Albion fans gave Long a warm welcome when he ran onto the pitch but were convinced Long dived to gain the penalty that led to the first goal and even though the Tipperaryman refused to celebrate his goal, Hull’s second, West Brom fans booed him the rest of the game.
Kayleah Long vented her anger on Twitter against a group of fans dressed in safari suits abusing Shane as he walked with Teigan to his car after the game. She described the fans as ‘vile, sick and horrible’.
The mother-of-two wrote: “Think it disgusting how people can abuse someone in front of their child! You should be ashamed! It’s vile! Our daughter is four years old and cried as was worried for her dad! Thank god I wasn’t there.”
Long insists he did not dive for the penalty and got to his feet after the challenge without appealing for a spot kick. The Ireland striker tweeted: “I got clipped, no I didn’t dive, yeah it was soft, that’s why I didn’t claim for it.”
