Ireland hit FIFA low

If Martin O’Neill needed any further reminder of the ground Ireland need to make up following that 2-1 friendly defeat at home to Serbia, it comes with the latest Fifa rankings which show the country at its lowest ever placing.

Ireland hit FIFA low

Ireland are down one to 68 which leaves them well behind two of their Euro 2016 qualifying opponents in the table, with Germany flying high at 2 and Scotland at 37. However, Poland continue to trail Ireland at 73, as do Georgia at 99.

World champions Spain still lead the international rankings ahead of Germany, Argentina, Portugal and Colombia, while England are up three to 12.
