Hughton says Redmond good enough for Ireland

O’Neill is keen to see the 19-year-old playing in a green shirt as he plans for the start of Ireland’s European Championship qualifying campaign next season. Norwich boss Chris Hughton, the former Ireland full-back and assistant manager, has no doubt that Redmond is an international in the making.

“He is 19 years of age now. We have seen lots of good players who have not developed the way that you want. But he is doing everything right for that to be the case.”

Gary Hooper scored the opener after 13 minutes, smashing an unstoppable drive into the top corner, before Leroy Fer finished off a sharp counter late on to seal a 2-0 victory.

NORWICH: Ruddy, Whittaker (Martin 90), Turner, Bassong, Olsson, Redmond, Howson, Johnson, Fer, Elmander (Murphy 76), Hooper (Becchio 90).
