Ronaldo raring to return after injury

Fit-again Cristiano Ronaldo says he will be available for Real Madrid’s next match as he looks to resume what he believes is possibly his best-ever start to a season.

Ronaldo sat out Madrid’s last two matches against Galatasaray and Real Valladolid after sustaining a hamstring injury.

That meant Ronaldo’s stunning goalscoring form this season was put on hold, but the Portugal international is now ready to return.

“I’ve no injury. I’ve been fine for a couple of days now. We decided not to push it in the last game but I’ll be available for the next game for certain,” he said yesterday.

Madrid are next in action against minnows Olimpic Xativa on Saturday in the first leg of their Copa del Rey last-32 tie.

Prior to his injury, Ronaldo took his tally to 35 goals in 25 appearances in all competitions this season with the opening goal in the 5-0 win over Almeria, while in the whole of 2013 he has struck 67 times for club and country.

Meanwhile, Spain’s competition commission has fined broadcaster Mediapro and clubs Real Madrid, Barcelona, Sevilla and Racing Santander €15m for agreeing TV deals for four years instead of the allowed three.

Mediapro was fined €6.5m, Real €3.9m, Barca €3.6m and Sevilla and Santander €900,000 and €30,000 respectively, the commission revealed yesterday.
