Dunne hails City spirit

Before this game at Turner’s Cross last night, some Cork City fans unfurled a banner imploring that the club sack ‘the Dub’, manager Tommy Dunne.

By the end, however, successive 3-0 losses to UCD and Drogheda United had been put to one side as City, inspired by two goals from former Sligo Rovers player Daryl Horgan, downed the champions, leaving Dunne delighted.

“It was a young team, but the character is the main thing that we saw from the players tonight, they dug deep,” Dunne said.
