‘I can open the door to any manager in the world’

It’s the interview doing the rounds at the moment and you’ve gotta hand it to Joe Kinnear, he certainly talks the talk.

Chatting to talkSPORT radio, the Irishman bragged how he could open “any door to any football manager” when asked what he can do for Newcastle.

“I can open the door to any football manager in the world, anyone. That’s the difference. I spend my whole life, picking up the phone, talking to Alex Ferguson, week in, week out. Pick the phone up at any time of day and speak to Arsene Wenger. I can pick the phone up and speak to any manager in the league, any manager in all divisions.”

He then went on to talk about his career. “I have played in five cup finals — I have won the lot. I had over 400 games for Tottenham Hotspur, been manager of the year three times and have travelled all over the world as a manager,” and some of the deals he done: “I bought Dean Holdsworth for £50k — sold him for £3 million.

“I sold John Scales for £3m — he was a free transfer.”

He has set himself a high bar.
