Candystripes march on as brave Blarney finally crack
Three goals in the last four minutes made it look a lot more convincing on a weekend which, disappointingly, failed to provide a single shock. It was harsh on Blarney that the final score took on such a one-sided complexion but then again there was little doubting Derry were much better value throughout.
Paul Hegarty, who stepped in to replace manager Declan Devine because he was at his daughter’s communion, felt the eventual result didn’t flatter the Candystripes.
