Gilmour: Celtic offer not enough
On Monday, the Paisley chief joined with Ross County chairman Roy MacGregor to vote down plans for league reconstruction.
The blueprint would have seen the Scottish Premier League and three divisions in the Scottish Football League merged into a new 12-12-18 set-up.
Eleven of the 12 SPL clubs were required to vote yes for the motion — which also included plans for a fairer share of cash and the introduction of play-offs — but the two dissenters paired together to shoot down the move for change.
Gilmour said: “We have been against the 11-1 voting structure for a long time.
“It was suggested at Monday’s meeting that they would cherry-pick one piece (league reconstruction) from the votes requiring an 11-1 majority and replace it with a 75%.
“But that was only as a means of getting their proposal passed. That was totally unacceptable to St Mirren Football Club.”
