Giovanni Trapattoni says he has “no problem” with Robbie Brady after the Hull player had said he would seek clarification from the manager about comments the Italian had made last week about the player’s psychological readiness to start against Sweden.

As things transpired, the winger didn’t even get off the bench, a consequence of the manager’s decision to turn to the big match experience of Jon Walters after losing Glenn Whelan to a late injury flare-up.

Yesterday, Trapattoni shifted responsibility onto the media for some interpretation of his words which had suggested he might have been questioning the young Dubliner’s mental state.
