Elsewhere substitute Libor Kozak netted a brace as 10-man Lazio drew 3-3 at Borussia Monchengladbach in a match where the Germans had three penalties. Martin Stranzl’s spot-kick put the Bundesliga side ahead but second-half strikes from Sergio Floccari and Kozak turned the pendulum Lazio’s way. Stranzl then missed his second penalty, which also saw Lazio defender Andre Dias dismissed after picking up a second yellow card. Thorben Marx levelled for Borussia from their third penalty and Juan Arango put the Germans ahead two minutes from time but Kozak’s header in the fourth minute of stoppage time gave Lazio three away goals.
Holders Atletico Madrid were beaten 2-0 at home by Rubin Kazan. Gokdeniz Karadeniz and Pablo Orbaiz scoring for the Russians.
Rodrigo Palacio scored twice as Inter beat Cluj 2-0 in Milan.
Viktoria Plzen shocked Napoli 3-0 at San Paolo. Late goals from Stanislav Tecl and Frantisek Rajtoral built on Vladimar Darida’s opener.
Anzhi Makhachkala defeated Hannover 3-1. Hannover led through Szabolcs Huszti but Samuel Eto’o’s drew Anzhi level and Odil Ahmedov put Anzhi ahead. Eto’o spurned a chance to make it 3-1 in the 57th minute as his spot-kick was saved but Anzhi secured a two-goal lead thanks to Mbark Boussoufa. Oscar Cardozo’s second-half strike gave Benfica a 1-0 win at Bayer Leverkusen.
