Hurling still close to Hunt’s heart

When he looks beyond the end of his football career, Stephen Hunt reckons he could yet return to another of his sporting loves – hurling.

“If I stayed fit and had no aches and pains, I could play hurling for two or three years, from 34 to 36,” he says.

“I went training with [former Wexford captain] Diarmuid Lyng’s team [St Martin’s] in Wexford in the summer after the Euros. I gave a bit of a roasting to a few of the keepers and they are a senior hurling team. I’ve not lost it and I really enjoyed it. It was good fun so you never know.
