Foley set to end international exile

Republic of Ireland right-back Kevin Foley could be poised to end his international exile.

Foley set to end international exile

Foley has been out of the Ireland squad since the agony of being axed for the European Championships.

But time looks to be a great healer and the Wolves right-back has hinted that the door is not closed on him returning to the Ireland fold.

He said: “I am over the disappointment of what happened with the Euros this summer and am looking forward. We’ll see what happens there but there’s plenty going on here at Wolves to keep me fully occupied.”

Foley had looked a certainty to be in the squad for the European Championships but in a late switch, manager Giovanni Trapattoni left him out in favour of Paul McShane.

Trapattoni wants to have Foley available again and his manager at Wolves, Stale Solbakken, is also keen to see his players playing international football whenever they can.
