Stewart Robson claims Arsenal’s defensive problems could be down to a rift between Steve Bould and Arsene Wenger.

The Gunners conceded two late goals in the Champions League defeat to Schalke on Wednesday night, leaving their hopes of qualifying for the knockout stages in the balance. Bould, who won the title three times with Arsenal as, was named as Wenger’s assistant manager in the summer, following Pat Rice’s departure. But former Highbury favourite Robson believes there may be friction between the Gunners legend and the Frenchman, which has lead to some poor defensive displays by the north London side.

“I hoped that [Bould] would do more with the defence but I’m not sure whether he’s being allowed to do that by Arsene Wenger.
