Hoolahan retains Ireland aspirations

Irish midfielder Wes Hoolahan was once again man of the match as Norwich moved away from the relegation zone after a 1-1 draw at Aston Villa on Saturday.

However the Dubliner is not sure when he will be given a chance in a green shirt. Asked about his international aspirations Hoolahan said: “They are still there. I haven’t been called up or mentioned or anything like that. I just want to keep playing well and hopefully one day (it will happen).

“I have my fingers crossed,” he added about the announcement of the next squad on Wednesday for next month’s friendly against Greece.
