Second goal goes to Walters

Albanian referee Lorenc Jemini has confirmed Jon Walters, inset, scored Ireland’s second goal in Torshavn — despite claims by Robbie Keane that he got that decisive touch.

Second goal goes to Walters

The Stoke City striker celebrated the goal — only his second for his country — but so did Keane, who was looking to notch up his 55th of a record haul for Ireland.

However, referee Jemini later insisted that Walters header hit the net without assistance from the Irish captain.

Said the match official: “The Ireland player, number 13, Walters, scored the goal and he has been recorded with it. We watched the television replay after the match and we are sure. Keane did not get a touch.”
