Fahey back to boost Trap’s midfield options

Republic of Ireland midfielder Keith Fahey has given Giovanni Trapattoni a major boost ahead of next month’s huge World Cup qualifier against Germany.

Fahey is on course to make a return to the squad after his successful comeback from a groin injury for Birmingham City at the weekend. Fahey had been out of action since April with the problem that forced him to withdraw from the Ireland squad for the European Championships.

But he made an 11-minute appearance off the bench in Birmingham’s 2-2 draw against Nottingham Forest. He is now earmarked for a longer run out against Bolton tomorrow night.
