England midfielder James Milner believes Manchester City can target a crack at the Champions League despite failing to get out of their group last season.

Milner played 74 minutes of Sunday night’s friendly against Limerick FC at Thomond Park and afterwards expressed his desire to shine on the European front after their dramatic capturing of the Premier League title in May.

“We want to improve on last year, but we didn’t play our best football in Europe,’’ Milner said. “Last year we had a tough group, but I think we had the highest points total of any team not to get through,” he said.
