Best faces scan after suffering knee injury

Ireland striker Leon Best will undergo a scan today to establish the seriousness of the injury he suffered in Blackburn’s friendly against AEK Athens yesterday.

Best was forced off in agony five minutes before half time and there are fears the striker, who only joined Blackburn from Newcastle last month, may have suffered another cruciate ligament injury.

Should such a gloomy prognosis prove true Best could be ruled out for the entirety of the coming season.
