Ireland’s U-19 women crashed out of the European Championships qualification hunt yesterday in Serbia following their second defeat in three days.

Nothing less than three points against Switzerland would suffice to revive Ireland’s prospects of emerging from the four-nation elite group.

Wexford striker Rianna Jarrett smashed a shot off the post on six minutes, however, on 41 minutes Ireland conceded to Eseosa Aigbogun’s strike. Jarrett had the ball in the net in the 78th minute but it was disallowed. Swiss playmaker Mirjine Selimi netted a second goal six minutes from time. Ireland face Denmark on Thursday.
