North double sees Sligo join Hoops at top

Danny North hit a double to score for the third match running as Sligo joined Shamrock Rovers at the top of the Premier Division on Saturday night.

After a tight first half, striker North broke the deadlock three minutes into the second half, tapping home at the back post from Raffaele Cretaro’s cross.

The game looked up for Dundalk six minutes later when central defender Gavin Peers met Ross Gaynor’s corner to head to the net from close range.
