Curran halts Longford run
Tony Cousins’ side looked well on their way to retaining their winning start to the season when Noel Haverty’s diving header slipped past Liam Grant’s poor attempted save eight minutes in, but Curran’s spot-kick after 50 minutes gave SD Galway their second point of the season.
After trailing at the break, the home side needed a bright start and they were soon back in the game after the awarding of a bizarre penalty.
Initially referee Ralph Pieper awarded a free-kick to Longford after a harmless clash between Enda Curran and Longford defender Des Hope, but after consulting with his flagging assistant, he reversed his decision and Enda Curran scored with ease.
