Fourmidable Derry cruise to victory

Derry eased top of the Premier Division in a game Bray will promptly want to forget.

Fourmidable Derry cruise to victory

Bray fumed at the sending off of keeper Darren Quigley. But Pat Devlin’s side were 2-0 down at that stage.

Derry deservedly took the lead on 19 minutes. Paddy McEleney delivered a free-kick from the right and defender Stewart Greacen scored with a towering header.

Route one brought Derry’s second seven minutes later. Ger Doherty punted the ball down field and David McDaid raced clear to flick it over Quigley and walk the ball into the net.

On 33 minutes Quigley was sent off when he was adjudged to have felled Patterson. Patterson calmly sent replacement keeper Brian Kane the wrong way from the spot. Patterson wasn’t done yet scoring a sublime fourth on 57 minutes.

BRAY: Quigley; Doyle, Sweeney (G Kelly, ht), Massey, Houston; Hanlon, Zambra, D. O’Connor, Knight (Kane 34); Byrne (Bolger 84), Waters.

DERRY CITY: Doherty; Madden, Greacen, S. McEleney, McCaffrey; P McEleney (Farren 69), Molloy, Huggins, McLaughlin (Morrison 77); Patterson, McDaid (Curran 77).
