Hanley the hero as Collingwood goes to UCD

A Niall Hanley header after 12 minutes proved enough to give UCD another Irish Universities Collingwood Cup title in the decider against Mary Immaculate College, Limerick at the University of Limerick yesterday.

Kilmallock-born Hanley has proved a match-winner for the Belfield side in the past, clinching a Harding Cup victory for UCD over NUI Maynooth last year, and the second year student was at it again here.

UCD piled on early pressure with most of the danger coming from right winger Stephen Doyle, who was always a threat and he delivered some well-placed crosses.
