Vieira and Keane bury the hatchet

It appears two of the Premier League’s greatest rivals have made up, with Patrick Vieira yesterday revealing he and Roy Keane have settled their differences.

Vieira and Keane bury the hatchet

The pair clashed on a number of occasions in the past, most notably in the tunnel before the meeting of Arsenal and Manchester United in 2005.

The French international, who was speaking at St Gabriel’s Centre in Limerick as part of a tour of Ireland to visit some of Manchester City’s 17 supporters’ clubs, said: “I have fantastic respect for him [Keane]. He was a fantastic example for me when I started. We met up recently at a charity dinner and we had a good chat.’’

Vieira, who now works as an ambassador for City, also spoke of the enormous amount of Manchester City fans based in Ireland.

“I was talking to Shay Given last night and told him I was going to Ireland and he was surprised but I’m not surprised, the fans come a long way and pay a lot of money so this is one way of rewarding the fans.”
