Green light for Ireland friendly with Hungary

The Republic of Ireland’s schedule for the build-up to the European Championship finals has been finalised, with confirmation from the FAI that Giovanni Trapattoni’s team will take on Hungary in a friendly in Budapest on June 4.

The match, which takes place the day before the panel fly on to their Euros base camp in Poland, will be hosted in the Ferenc Puskás stadium in the Hungarian capital.

With this confirmation of the friendly in Budapest, the key dates for Giovanni Trapattoni’s team prior to the European Championships are now as follows: Feb 29, v Czech Republic, Aviva Stadium; May 26, v Bosnia Herzegovina, Aviva Stadium; May 27-June 3, pre-training camp, Montecatini, Italy; June 4, v Hungary, Budapest; and June 5, commencement of UEFA Euro 2012 training camp, Gdynia, Poland.
