Tevez denies comments escalating City furore

Carlos Tevez has attempted to diffuse the latest furore about his relationship with Manchester City by denying he made the comments attributed to him in German magazine Kicker yesterday.

In the published interview, Tevez said he felt the way he was treated by City was “strange”. However, his representatives last night poured cold water on the entire interview.

A statement issued by his representative read: “Regarding an interview published in Kicker magazine, Carlos Tevez categorically denies both speaking to any journalist about his situation at Manchester City and the quotes attributed to him in the interview.”

The Argentinian’s future has been the subject of intense debate. He has not played for City since becoming embroiled in a dispute with the club in September and it was anticipated he would leave in the transfer window.

However, despite interest from AC Milan, Inter, and PSG, no transfer was concluded and City flatly refused to enter into discussions over a loan deal for the 27-year-old.

The Kicker interview had quoted Tevez as saying: “The situation is very strange for me. I wanted to go and had offers from other leagues, from Spain and Italy. But it did not work out in the end because City did not accept any of the offers.”
