Tralee close in on League of Ireland place

LEADING Kerry soccer club Tralee Dynamos have moved a step closer to becoming the Kingdom’s first ever League of Ireland First Division representative.

A three-man delegation from the club met FAI officials in Dublin yesterday to complete its club licence submission and to furnish the Association with future financial expectation.

“We are still at the club licence stage and it has always been clear to us from the outset that even if we get the club licence then that doesn’t necessarily guarantee you League of Ireland Division 1 football,” manager Noel White explained.

“We are at the finalising the club licence stage and we are very hopeful that we will achieve that. Then if there is a vacancy available in division one, then we are in the hat for it and the FAI would then make the decision relative to the clubs who have passed the club licensing stage. We would be hopeful of achieving it.”

The FAI will be in contact with Dynamos next week with financial and infrastructure recommendations, and the completion of those recommendations would end the license process.

Meanwhile, Tralee Dynamos’ U19 side will take on Bray Wanderers in the League of Ireland U19 Cup this Sunday, in Cahermoneen, Tralee at 2pm.
