NEWCASTLE manager Alan Pardew yesterday blasted Giovanni Trapattoni’s criticism of Leon Best and accused the Republic of Ireland manager of never watching the striker play.

Trapattoni omitted Best from his squad for the Euro 2012 doubleheader against Andorra and Armenia in October and defended the decision by suggesting Best is lazy.

Trapattoni said: “I have not picked Leon Best because we have three or four other strikers with other qualities.
