Anichebe’s timely intervention

DAVID MOYES will be peering through this month’s transfer window with envy at his Premier League peers due to Everton’s parlous finances so Victor Anichebe’s contribution yesterday was certainly timely.

Moyes can expect little, if any, assistance in the transfer market in the January sales but can at least reflect on Anichebe’s impact and look ahead with some optimism.

Anichebe, the Nigerian international, will wave goodbye to 2011 without hesitation after a catalogue of injury problems and the portents are promising for the forward after his late goal settled a moribund encounter.
