On the right track: Finding the perfect sound to summer

MIND your toes while I drop a name there, reader. I once had a good chat with Damien Duff — clang! — about music.

I should add that we did this over a game of Tomy SuperCup football, the battery-operated improvement on the primitive Subbuteo, in which you twirl little footballer figures as they whiz up and down the pitch.

I brought along the game in a tattered cardboard box, in order to try something a little different with the notoriously cagey Dubliner. It didn’t really work and he beat me 2-1 in the front office of a Baggot Street PR company... but he was happy to chat about the tunes on his iPod over the din of the machine.
