Paisley: Shels can copy Derry success

STEPHEN PAISLEY sees no reason why Shelbourne can’t make a similar impact in the Premier Division next year to that made by Derry City in 2011.

Named yesterday as the Airtricity/Soccer Writers’ Association of Ireland Player of the Month for November, following a man-of-the-match display in their FAI Cup final defeat to Sligo on penalties, central defender Paisley says he hopes to re-sign for Alan Mathews’ side, following their promotion this year.

“We didn’t pencil it in at the start of the season, we were delighted to get there and, on the day, we acquitted ourselves well,” said the 28-year-old Dubliner of the cup final.
