Wenger admits uncertainty about Van Persie future

ARSENE WENGER conceded he does not yet know if Robin van Persie will sign a new contract to remain at the Emirates Stadium after the striker underlined his importance to Arsenal with two goals that secured victory over Sunderland yesterday.

Wenger admits uncertainty about Van Persie future

Van Persie will enter the final year of his contract next summer, raising fears that the club, just as it did Samir Nasri last summer, will be forced to sell the player if new terms cannot be agreed to avoid the prospect of him leaving as a free agent in 2013.

The player stated his commitment to the cause immediately after the win that moved Arsenal up to mid-table. Wenger insists the player’s displays in a difficult season are testament to that commitment but admitted the player has so far been reluctant to discuss a new deal.
