IRELAND U21 boss Noel King has given one-time senior squad member Terry Dixon, 21, an international lifeline in tomorrow’s European Championship qualifier against Liechtenstein in Eschen.

A combination of injuries and off-field issues has seen Dixon’s stock plummet from his peak in 2006 when the then Spurs trainee won a senior call-up by Steve Staunton at 16 to his present situation of playing non-league for Halifax Town.

King yesterday confirmed the Londoner amongst his 18-man squad on the trip to snowy Liechtenstein, where his side will be expected to claim a second win from their third qualifier in the campaign so far.
