Keane to skip NY for Dublin

IN an unexpected U-turn, it has been confirmed that Ireland are going to have Robbie Keane all to themselves for the Andorra and Armenia games next month.

In a brief statement issued last night, the FAI announced that the Ireland captain will now join up with the Irish squad from the first day of training next Monday ahead of the European Championship double-header.

That means Keane will miss the LA Galaxy game against New York Red Bulls tomorrow week, a fixture which had been rescheduled after the original match was postponed when Hurricane Irene hit the eastern seaboard of the United States.
