Keane linked with Iceland job
Reports in the Icelandic media yesterday indicated former Ireland and Manchester United star Keane could replace Olafur Johannesson, who is due to leave next month after four years in the post.
The Icelandic FA was coy on the subject but refused to rule out the prospect of Keane becoming their next manager.
“There are a number of managers linked the role. We have had several names linked including domestic managers, Roy Keane and former Sweden boss Lars Lagerback,’’ a spokesperson for the Icelandic FA said.
“We can’t confirm or deny if Roy Keane is in contention for the job and there will be no further comment.’’
Keane has been out of work since January when he left Championship side Ipswich after less than two years in charge.
