Forlan fills Eto’o boots
The Uruguay international completed his transfer from Atletico Madrid to the Nerazzurri yesterday after months of speculation, arriving as a replacement for Samuel Eto’o, who joined Russian outfit Anzhi Makhachkala last week.
The 32-year-old former Manchester United striker has signed a two-year contract with the Serie A giants after seven years in Spain.
“This is an important moment,” said Forlan on the club’s website. “I have arrived to join a great team. I am mature and I have the right experience. To be here now is beautiful.”
Elsewhere, Atletico Madrid have signed playmaker Diego on loan from Wolfsburg.
The 26-year-old Brazil international started his career with Santos before moving to Europe in 2004.
Atletico also confirmed Brazil midfielder Elias Mendes has left to join Sporting Lisbon for €9m.
