Kavanagh sparkles for Pat’s

Kavanagh sparkles for Pat’s

The visitors should have went in front on eight minutes when Anto Murphy headed the ball into the path of Shane McFaul but his free header was sent just over the bar. Nine minutes later, however, before former Blues player Kavanagh put the Inchicore club in front.

After United keeper Kevin Burns produced a top save to keep out an Evan McMillan header from a Stephen Bradley right-wing corner, the ball broke to Kavanagh and he had no difficulty in heading home from close range. Things got even better for Pat’s on 20 minutes when a superb ball from Murphy picked out Kavanagh and he outpaced the Blues defence to beat keeper Burns with a classy finish with the outside of his right boot.
