Successful ring hunt gets Stephen off hook

WOLVES star Stephen Hunt suffered a pre-season scare with a difference after losing his wedding ring greeting fans at the club’s training camp in County Kildare.

Successful ring hunt gets Stephen off hook

The Republic of Ireland winger this week joined his clubmates for the pre-season trip to the luxurious Carton House Hotel, just outside Maynooth.

The 29-year-old took time out to meet and greet fans who turned up for the club’s training session.

However, while signing autographs, Hunt’s wedding ring slipped off his finger, sparking a frantic search of the area. Thankfully, Hunt was saved some serious explaining to wife Joanne when one eagle-eyed fan located the ring. And the Ireland international showed his appreciation to the fan by giving him one of the club’s training balls to take home.

Tuesday’s incident was a brief blip in what has been a successful training camp for the Old Gold at Carton House, which last year hosted Real Madrid.

More than 30 members of the Irish Wolves Supporters Club, who travelled from across Ireland, also got to meet their stars in training.

Wolves are becoming increasingly popular in this country as Irish players swell their ranks. Along with Hunt, the club also boast fellow Boys in Green in Kevin Doyle, Kevin Foley, Stephen Ward and Andy Keogh, not forgetting their manager, former Ireland boss Mick McCarthy.
