Tardelli moved by Irish victory

MARCO TARDELLI, one of the great heroes of Italian football, said both he and Giovanni Trapattoni were very emotional after Ireland’s remarkable victory in Liege.

“It was very emotional for Giovanni and I,” he said.

“We are Italian but we have a job to do for the Irish team and we want to win of course. Giovanni was emotional but less than me. That is usually so. I was very, very happy because this is our job. It is my life and it is my passion.
