Waterford march on
Murphy struck on 39 minutes when Willie John Kiely did well out on the right to put the ball on a plate for the striker and he fired past keeper Deegan with a first time right-footed strike from 10 yards.
Murphy doubled the lead after 56 minutes when Gary Keane and Michael Coady linked up out on the left and after the left-back fed the ball into the path of the Wexford-born centre forward, he volleyed home at the back post.
Dwayne Wilson ensured his side’s cup passage to the next round on 83 minutes as he bundled the ball over the line from close range before Murphy missed a penalty in injury time for his hat-trick.
