Hungarian Kassai to ref final

UEFA has announced that Hungarian referee Viktor Kassai will officiate the Champions League final between Barcelona and Manchester United at Wembley tomorrow night.

Kassai, 35, has officiated more than 60 UEFA matches during his career and encountered Alex Ferguson’s side earlier in the season, when he took charge of their 1-0 victory over Valencia during the group stages, when he brandished only a single yellow card.

He was also the man in the middle when a Spain side featuring Barcelona stars Gerard Pique, Carles Puyol, David Villa, Xavi, Pedro and Andres Iniesta beat Germany 1-0 in Durban to reach the 2010 World Cup final.
