Van Persie: We share fans’ frustration
Dutchman Van Persie has been the shining light of Arsenal’s troubled season; he’s scored 23 goals in 34 games going into the final match at Fulham on Sunday despite having spent almost 10 weeks of the campaign injured — and in many people’s eyes has overtaken even Cesc Fabregas as his side’s most influential player.
But the nature of football is that individual success can only truly be enjoyed when the team shares in it; and at Arsenal that hasn’t been the case with the Gunners booed off last weekend following a 2-1 home defeat against Aston Villa that summed up another season in which they weren’t good enough to break a six-six year trophy drought.
