Gypsies add to Galway’s woes

THESE are worrying times for Galway United as they slumped to a seventh defeat in a row against a Bohemians outfit that are continuing to enjoy themselves away from Dalymount Park.

This was the Gypsies fifth road win of 2011 and from an early stage it was apparent that Pat Fenlon’s team were primed for battle.

Last season Bohemians’ three defeats by Galway ultimately cost them the title, but they were never in any danger of losing after Anto Flood headed home a sweet Stephen Traynor cross in the 12th minute.

Galway battled bravely for vast chunks of the opening period, but they weren’t able to force an equaliser and Bohemians scored again on the hour mark.

Flood, who led the line superbly, was denied by a Greg Fleming save, but Keith Buckley reacted sharply to guide Bohemians two clear despite a valiant Stephen Walsh attempted clearance.

Traynor was denied by a delightful Greg Fleming save, while Killian Brennan shaved the woodwork as Bohemians sought to inflict further damage, but even though Galway were able to keep the scoreline respectable a grim relegation fight awaits.
