MICK McCARTHY still believes Wolves will scramble out of the relegation mire to Premier League safety — but has challenged his side to win their remaining two home games to pull off the escape after missing the chance to climb out of the bottom three against Birmingham City.

Wolves remain a point from safety ahead of next Sunday’s Black Country derby against West Brom at Molineux and their final home game of the season is against fellow relegation rivals Blackburn.

McCarthy knows his chances have been damaged by the draw, saying: “Of course they are less favourable, because we have one game less to play, but we have got to do the job at home. We have got two games and I still think it will go to the last day.”
