Out-of-form Leeds forced to settle for a point
Simon Grayson’s side did most of the probing against the high-flying Royals and while it took several superb saves from Reading goalkeeper Alex McCarthy to deny Leeds, the Yorkshire side had to settle for a scoreless draw and have won only one of their last seven league games at the business end of the season and both Hull and Burnley can now join them on 66 points if they win their games in hand today.
Earlier Paul McKenna struck a late winner as Nottingham Forest defeated Leicester 3-2 in a nervous and edgy contest to provide a much-needed shot in the arm to their prospects of reaching the Championship play-offs.
Elsewhere Scunthorpe remain three points adrift of safety in the relegation zone after a 1-1 draw with Coventry at the Ricoh Arena.
Marlon King put the visitors ahead before Ramon Nunez rescued a point for Scunthorpe who stay in 22nd place in the table.
Palace are still three points better off than Scunthorpe with three games left to play as they drew 0-0 at Doncaster.
