Limerick hold Shels

SHELBOURNE maintained their unbeaten start to the league but Paudie Quinn’s late strike denied them victory at Tolka Park last night.

Shels dominated and were finally rewarded for their pressure when Hughes crashed home on 85 minutes. But Quinn struck in injury-time to give Limerick a share of the spoils.

Wexford Youths 3 Mervue United 5

THREE second-half goals saw Mervue United past a Wexford Youths side still seeking their first points of the season at Ferrycarrig Park.

Mervue’s dangerous Rory Gaffney opened the scoring on 12 minutes and made it 2-0 after 30 minutes.

Wexford pulled a goal back after 38 minutes through a fine Dave Grincell shot. In a dramatic second half, Wexford were level through a 66th minute Danny Furlong penalty but the visitors grabbed two goals in the 70th and 72nd minutes from Tom King and Jason Molloy. Furlong struck back for Wexford but the visitors secured the points through Mike Tierney.
