Under-fire FAI scraps ticket bundling policy

THE FAI has announced that it is scrapping its policy of ‘bundling’ match tickets with immediate effect, as the association tries to come to terms with poor attendances at the Aviva Stadium and widespread criticism of its ticket pricing during a deep recession.

The decision means that, instead of people having to pay for two games at a time, tickets for all Ireland’s upcoming home matches this year — the friendlies against Northern Ireland and Scotland and the European Championship qualifiers against Slovakia and Armenia — will be sold on a single basis.

However, there is no further reduction in individual ticket prices which the FAI point out have already been cut from €70 and €50 to €60 and €40 for competitive games and from €55 and €40 to €45 and €30 for friendlies.
