Longford looking to extend run

THERE are two games in the Airtricity League First Division this evening, with Longford Town at home to Mervue United (7.30pm) and Salthill Devon playing host to Athlone Town (7pm).
Longford looking to extend run

At Flancare Park, Longford will be looking to build on a decent run of form that has seen them beat Wexford Youths in the league and Athlone in the EA Sports Cup, with Don Cowan scoring in both games. Mervue have four points from their opening two league games, having held Cork City 1-1 at home last week.

In tonight’s other match, at Drom, Salthill Devon meet Athlone Town on the back of Monday’s EA Sports Cup win over Fanad United. Both sides are looking to pick up their first three points of the new campaign, although the visitors are hampered by having Bobby Tier (thigh), Brendan Daly (ankle) and Gary Higgins (hamstring) on the injury list.
