End of the road for Fingal

SPORTING FINGAL’S short history in the Airtricity League looks over after the club was forced to cancel the contracts of its entire squad yesterday.

The club, FAI Ford Cup winners in 2009, has failed to secure major financial backing since developer Gerry Gannon had to withdraw his support at the end of last season.

A decision on whether Sporting Fingal, launched just three years ago tomorrow, can continue in the league at all may be made by the FAI, following talks, today.
